Micropiles (or mini piles) are load bearing piles, typically ranging from 75 to 300mm in diameter, and can be installed where access for conventional plant is restricted (eg. existing building basements, railway platforms).
Micropiles are typically constructed from a high strength steel casing, with a central reinforcing bar, drilled and installed into the ground.
The equipment and installation methods used, ensure the micropiles can be installed in almost any ground conditions, natural or artificial, with minimal vibration and disturbance. This has proven to be an advantage during refurbishment or upgrades of existing buildings, when the buildings may still be in use.
